My Step Nan Vi Passed away today Thursday 10th January 2008 at 3pm. She had been unwell for a few
weeks, really not that long. And yesterday was very unwell, she arrived at the hospital with a
perferated bowel, was operated on and wilst they were there they discovered she had cancer of the
kidney, pelvis, liver and it was spreading too. She ended up having all her large bowel removed and
a bag was put on, but over night she took a turn for the worse and her kidney's stopped
working, the doctors told us this morning she was only alive because the machines were keeping her
alive. So we all said our goodbyes today at 1pm and her machines were switched off, she passed away
at 3pm. She was in no pain and looked at peace.

My Nan, was a great woman, she was 87 drank a bottle of wine often (lol) smoked far too much, and
had an opionion on everything...she was fantastic! I love you nan! She was always so much more than
a step nan!

She had a son (my step dad) and 2 sisters whom are still alive, she will be cremated near my
grandad.

I will tidy this up soon, but for now i wanted somewhere to come to talk to my nan.

My real dad is also on this site david forrester...some of you may know me.

I know my friends here at GTS will help me through the next few difficult days x

In Sympathy

So sorry for your loss, your story has touched my heart. My nan passed away last year and it feels like my whole world has been taken away. My thoughts are with you. God bless. I hope you find this poem of comfort, as I have done. x

What is Dying?

A ship sails and I stand watching till she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says 'She is gone'.

Gone where? Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large now as when I last saw her. Her diminished size and total loss from my sight is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone at my side says she is gone there are others who are watching her coming over their horizon and other voices take up a glad shout 'There she comes!'

That is what dying is. An horizon and just the limit of our sight.

Lift us up, Oh Lord, that we may see further.
